Frequently Asked Questions About Group Events in The Woodlands

Booking & Logistics

How many participants can attend a group event at Little Beakers The Woodlands?

The Woodlands lab accommodates up to 200 participants per session.

How do I book a field trip or group event at the The Woodlands location?

First, choose the age range for your group. We have group packages for pre-K thru 5th, middle school, high school and corporate team-building events. We recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks in advance, especially for spring field trip season (February-May) when dates fill quickly.

What are group event hours and scheduling options at The Woodlands?

Group events are available by appointment only, typically scheduled during weekday mornings and early afternoons. Flexible scheduling accommodates school schedules and bus transportation.

We are able to accommodate some groups on weekends but note that weekend group bookings (Friday 4pm through Sunday 8pm) do not follow the pricing above and do not include the use of a party room. Contact us for availability and pricing specifics.

Do teachers and chaperones participate in the experiments?

No. Teachers and chaperones are there in a supervisory capacity only. Up to 20 teachers and/or chaperones are permitted entry at no charge. An additional fee may be assessed for teachers and chaperones numbering more than 20. Contact The Woodlands location for specifics.

Pricing & Scheduling

How much do group events and field trips cost at Little Beakers The Woodlands?

The Polymers & Explosions session for younger scientists ranges in price from $8.00-$15.00 per participant depending on group size, with a minimum of $225.00. Dissection sessions range from $22.00-$25.00 per participant depending on the specimen and group size. Many schools use PTA funds, field trip budgets, or fundraising to cover costs.

What is the cancellation policy for group events at The Woodlands?

Little Beakers understands that weather and illness affect school schedules—contact The Woodlands location as soon as possible if cancellation is necessary. Little Beakers reserves the right to cancel for emergencies with full refund provided.

Do you offer on-site events at our Woodlands-area school or facility?

Yes! Little Beakers can bring portable lab equipment to your location for schools, community centers, or organizations unable to travel to The Woodlands lab. On-site programs include the same hands-on lab experience with some adjustments depending on the package, time constraints, and the area provided. Complete this brief form to provide your event’s details and receive a no-obligation quote.

Is a deposit required to book at Little Beakers The Woodlands?

No. We do not require a deposit to make your booking.

When is payment for the lab session due?

Payment on the day of the event is our preference but we are flexible in accommodating different area school districts’ and other organizations’ payment procedures.

Payment may also be made in advance of the event or after the event.

Do you provide a refund if fewer participants attended than what the check was made out for?

No. We do not issue refunds due to headcount differences. However, we can provide an invoice right up until the day of the event when we know the exact headcount.

Program Details & Curriculum

How are Little Beakers The Woodlands field trips different from science shows?

Little Beakers provides hands-on science where every participant conducts their own experiments using real laboratory equipment, not passive demonstrations. Each child wears a lab coat and safety glasses and is encouraged to put forth hypotheses and follow scientific methodology throughout the session. 3-4 experiments are completed depending on the package. This is authentic laboratory science aligned with NGSS standards, not entertainment.

Do you have programs for different grade levels at The Woodlands?

Yes! Little Beakers Cypress offers hands-on science session packages for age groups from PreK through high school. PreK and Elementary packages cover chemistry, physics, and biology concepts. Middle and high school packages introduce additional dissection specimen options and science challenge events. Discussion and explanation of material is always adapted to the grade level being taught.

What scientific concepts do students learn during The Woodlands field trips?

Hands-on science sessions cover density, chemical reactions, states of matter, polymers, acids and bases, and Newton’s Laws through 4+ experiments. Dissection programs teach anatomy, microscopy, and comparative biology. All programs emphasize observation, hypothesis testing, and scientific thinking skills.

Are dissection programs appropriate for elementary students?

Dissection programs are led by trained scientists who guide students through proper scientific techniques with respect for specimens. Dissections are recommended for ages 5+ but check with The Woodlands location for guidance. Teachers can discuss appropriateness for their specific group, and instruction is adapted to maturity levels.

Special Programs

Can you accommodate corporate team building events at the The Woodlands location?

Absolutely! Big Beakers team building programs at The Woodlands location accommodate 4-60 adult participants with hands-on science challenges, engineering competitions, and collaborative problem-solving activities. Corporate groups enjoy unique science challenges incorporating product research, development, and marketing. Party rooms are available for post-lab debriefing and festivities. Book now or contact The Woodlands location for packages and pricing.

What happens if some students have allergies or special needs?

Please inform us of any allergies (especially latex for glove use during dissections) or special accommodations needed when booking. Alternative materials can be provided, activities adjusted, or arrangements made with teachers to ensure all students can participate safely. The Woodlands facility is wheelchair accessible and has successfully accommodated students with various learning differences and physical needs.
