Frequently Asked Questions About Science Classes in Orem

Class Enrollment & Logistics

What age groups do science classes at Little Beakers Orem accommodate?

Little Beakers Orem serves children ages 3-16 across four program types. Preschool classes accept ages 3-5, elementary programs serve ages 6-12, and the advanced Molecular Level homeschool curriculum accommodates teens ages 13-16 with teacher approval. Each program features age-appropriate experiments and instruction methods.

How do I enroll my child in science classes at the Orem location?

Enrollment is available through the online booking system at littlebeakers.com or by calling 1-833-KIDS-LAB. Select Orem as your preferred location, choose the program type, and review available class times. Homeschool programs offer flexible scheduling options in most cases.

What are class sizes and student-to-instructor ratios at Orem?

Class sizes vary by program type to ensure quality instruction. Preschool classes maintain small groups of 8 children, after-school programs and homeschool curriculum classes accommodate an approximate 12:1 student to teacher ratio. All classes are led by trained staff with assistant support for larger groups, ensuring every child receives hands-on participation and individual attention.

Can I visit the Orem facility before enrolling my child?

Absolutely! Little Beakers Sandy offers Homeschool Info Session. While parents meet to discuss the program, potential students will join a Little Beakers scientist for a mini-Guided Lab Session where they will conduct a few of our favorite experiments. Each session is 30 minutes long. Attendance is free, but space is limited. Reservations are required. Sign up here today

Scheduling & Attendance

When do science classes run at the Orem location?

Homeschool, preschool, and after-school programs run September through May in alignment with local school district. Guided and Dissection session times are offered year-round. The Orem location is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday during the school year and Monday through Saturday during the summer break. Check the Orem location for specific class days and times.

What happens if my child misses a scheduled class?

Make-up policies vary by program type. Contact the Orem location coordinator for specific make-up options. Consistent attendance is recommended for best learning outcomes.

Can my child attend classes at multiple Little Beakers locations?

Little Beakers will always do its best to accommodate students’ schedules. Attendance at a location other than the student’s primary location would be subject to availability and approval of Little Beakers management. Check with the Orem location for more information and guidance.

Do you offer trial classes before committing to a full semester?

Due to the nature of our class structure, trial classes can be distruptive for enrolled students and confusing  for potential students. Instead, the Sandy location offers no cost 30-minute Homeschool info sessions. While parents/guardians meet to have their questions answered, potential students join a Little Beakers for a mini guided session. It is free to attend. Space is limited and appointments are required.

Another option to help your child familiarize themselves with the lab environment, includes the self-guided Open Lab service which allows your child to explore experiments independently before committing to structured classes.

Curriculum & Educational Approach

What makes Little Beakers Orem different from other kids' science programs?
Little Beakers provides authentic laboratory experiences in a permanent Orem facility, not mobile demonstrations or entertainment venues. Every child conducts their own experiments using professional equipment, lab coats, and safety glasses. The curriculum was developed by aerospace chemist Dr. Cinttya Morgan and covers 7,000+ unique experiments across chemistry, physics, biology, and more—far exceeding the scope of typical children’s science programs.
Do Orem classes align with Utah education standards?
Yes, the curriculum aligns with Texas standards for science education. Homeschool programs provide complete transcripts documenting credit hours and topics covered. Teachers and homeschool families use these classes to supplement classroom learning, prepare for standardized tests, and fulfill hands-on laboratory requirements that traditional classrooms often cannot provide.
What scientific topics are covered in Orem science classes?
The comprehensive curriculum spans chemistry (polymers, reactions, molecular structures), physics (forces, motion, energy), biology (cellular structures, ecosystems, anatomy), microbiology (bacteria, microscopy), and electrochemistry (circuits, conductivity). Each program level introduces age-appropriate concepts through hands-on experimentation rather than passive observation, building scientific literacy and critical thinking skills.
How do dissection classes benefit my child's education?
Dissection classes develop observation skills, scientific methodology, and biological understanding that reading or videos cannot provide. Students learn anatomical structures, comparative biology, and proper scientific documentation. These experiences particularly benefit students interested in medicine, veterinary science, or biological research careers. Trained scientists guide each dissection with appropriate context and respect for the specimens.

Pricing & Payment Options

How much do science classes cost at Little Beakers Orem?

Prices for classes vary depending on the level and frequency. See pricing details provided above for each service or contact the Sandy location for full pricing details and available discounts.

Do you offer sibling discounts or family packages at Orem?

Yes! A 10% tuition discount is available for each sibling enrolled in homeschool, after-school, and preschool/science discovery programs. Contact the Sandy location for family-specific pricing options.
