Frequently Asked Questions About Science Camps in Cypress
Camp Registration & Logistics
What ages can attend Little Beakers science camps in Cypress?
Little Beakers Cypress camps accommodate a range of ages 3-12. Campers must be able to use the bathroom independently.
Are all ages in one camp together?
For camps with larger attendance requiring more than one teacher, campers will be divided into even groups by age. When attendance is less, campers will be divided by age at different tables in the same room.
Can siblings stay together?
Yes! You may request that siblings stay together (or apart!) and we will accommodate.
How do I register my child for science camps at the Cypress location?
First see what themes and dates are available and then click on the corresponding ‘I’m Ready to Book’ links to register. Summer camps fill quickly, so we recommend registering 2-3 months in advance, especially for popular themes like paleontology, marine biology, and robotics.
What are your camp hours and drop-off/pick-up procedures at Cypress?
Camp times are 9:30am to 12:30pm or 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Drop-off begins no earlier than 10 minutes before start time, and pick-up must occur promptly at end time. Parents/guardians must sign children in and out daily for safety.
What should my child bring to camp each day?
Campers should bring a lunch only if doing both AM and PM camps, a water bottle, and comfortable clothes that are okay to get messy. Little Beakers provides snacks, juice, lab coats, safety glasses, all experiment materials, and take-home project supplies. We recommend closed-toe shoes for laboratory safety.
Scheduling & Availability
When do summer camps run at the Cypress location?
Do you offer camps during school breaks besides summer?
Yes! Little Beakers Cypress offers Spring Break camps (5-day programs in March/April), 4-day Thanksgiving camps, Christmas break camps (3-5 days), and New Year’s camps (3-5 days). Holiday camps often feature seasonal themes.
What happens if my child is sick and misses a camp day?
If your child misses a camp day due to illness, contact the Cypress location to discuss make-up options. Depending on enrollment and space availability, we may accommodate make-up attendance during a future session of the same or different theme. However, make-ups are not guaranteed for full camps. We cannot offer refunds for individual missed days.
Do you offer partial camp rates?
Yes! Although we recommend attending the full camp for best continuity and value, we understand some simply are not able to attend all days scheduled for a camp for various reasons. Simply input the relevant coupon code displayed during the booking process to receive the reduced rate. Note that the cost per day of camp is more the fewer days you sign up for.
I can only register my child for 2 days of camp. Can you tell me the schedule of activities so I can pick the best days?
No. Although we will make our best effort to ensure campers who are not attending the full camp get to complete those projects/experiments that correspond to the camp’s theme, we cannot guarantee that campers not attending the full camp will complete certain projects or experiments. The schedule of activities for a given camp is fluid for various reasons and is subject to change solely at our discretion.
Camp Curriculum & Activities
How are Little Beakers Cypress camps different from other summer camps?
Can my child attend the same camp theme multiple times?
While campers are welcome to repeat favorite themes, most families prefer exploring different themes across multiple weeks. With 19 different camp options spanning marine biology, paleontology, robotics, astronomy, forensics, and more, most children want to experience new topics each week.
What scientific concepts do campers actually learn?
Each themed camp covers 35+ experiments spanning multiple scientific disciplines. Marine Biology camps teach anatomy and microscopy techniques. Robotics camps cover circuits, electricity, and engineering design. Paleontology camps explore geology and fossil formation. All camps incorporate chemistry, physics, and hands-on scientific methodology appropriate to the theme and age group.
Are the dissection camps appropriate for all children?
Dissection camps are led by trained scientists who guide students through proper scientific dissection with appropriate context and respect for specimens. We recommend ages 5+ for most dissection camps, though mature younger children may participate with parent approval. Parents concerned about appropriateness should contact the Cypress location to discuss specific camp content before enrolling.
